Hello everyone, I am Ava Krivosh. I am a fourth-year sports journalism student and a part of AC ’18 here in the Gamma Iota Chapter at the University of Florida. During the school year, you can find me in the newsroom in Weimer Hall working at ESPN Gainesville. After school, I hope to find a job in the sports realm, whether it be journalism, broadcasting, or even social media marketing.
When I am not at school, you can catch me on the beaches of Ocean City, Maryland, where I work as a beach lifeguard. For the past seven summers, I have worked my way up the ranks of the Ocean City Beach Patrol (OCBP). This job has become an integral part of my life as it has not only allowed me to change people’s lives but also has brought me an amazing work family. From ocean rescues to even CPR, each emergency I respond to brings me closer to my co-workers as we change the lives of complete strangers.
The work-family I have grown with is very similar to my family Alpha Delta Pi has provided me. Bid day consisted of 85 of us coming together forming our alpha class. These girls who were once strangers to me are now people I could never imagine life without. The girls are the epitome of selflessness, hard work, compassion, and trustworthiness - qualities a lifeguard, like myself, is drawn to. When I came to the University of Florida, I knew I wanted to find a group that supported me just like the one I have during my summers with OCBP, and that’s exactly what I have found at Alpha Delta Pi.
